A Priority for the Future of our Youth

Conscious of the importance of providing employment for Natives living off-reserves, Corporation Waskahegen invests a lot of energy to meet its economical development mission in order to generate creative initiatives of wealth for this community.

After obtaining a big success in the early year 2000 with many initiatives in economic development like Kisis Technology and Polycrete, and the “Pourvoirie du Lac Husky” Corporation Waskahegen is looking into the future with optimism. Corporation Waskahegen had to slow down its activities to be able to pass through the politic crisis that affected the AAQ, its services corporations and the various ministries with whom she has business relations. In consequences, positions have been lost as well as projects that could have lead to the creation of many others more.

Now that things are going back to normal, the management of Corporation Waskahegen is looking into the future with optimism.

Recent studies on native populations living off-reserves have revealed a 2.8 % increase rate which is 40 % higher than the one of the national non-Native population. Already 50 % of the Native population is 25 years old of age explaining the urgency to invest greater efforts in economic development.

Corporation Waskahegen is determined to make sure its clientele has access to all the services to which it is entitled; to that end, it has established relations with the economic development organizations already in place.
